Good Morning West Belfast is an integral part of the Ardmonagh Family and Community Centre.
We have been in operation over 10 years, serving the needs of older people across west Belfast.
Traditionally we have offered a call support service, making daily calls to help break down isolation and loneliness, two needs identified through surveys. We also offer a reminder service to ensure our clients take medication or attend appointments.
We have developed into a befriending service, building a further connection, this is a bespoke service and can be tailored to suit needs of clients. It can range from a home visit, taking clients shopping or hospital appointments. Each of the clients are offered a home and fire safety check plus a benefits check-up.
Following an informal consultation with our clients we have recently started to carry out small events, including encouraging clients to have their say in the age friendly Belfast consultation, a sofa cinema, tea dance and even a trip to City Hall to have tea with the mayor of Belfast Deirdre Hargey.
